Services

In conjunction with Marist College students, community-based organizations, and local businesses, Marist College LPP provides robust programming for its students. Programming ranges from tutoring, mentoring, case management, college readiness, workforce development, art therapy, and leadership development. The Marist College LPP team utilizes various tools to measure, build, and strengthen students鈥� resiliency skills. Coordinators, tutors, and mentors use validated resiliency assessments to obtain insight into the specific social-emotional issues with which students may be struggling. In addition, the Marist College LPP team uses a standards-aligned curriculum as a pedagogical framework to improve students鈥� academic resiliency. Coordinators meet with Marist College LPP students to develop Personal Learning Plans (PLPs). Together, they set Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely (SMART) goals.

Throughout the academic year, tutors and mentors help hold students accountable for achieving their long and short-term SMART goals. In the summer, Marist College LPP takes students to Marist College for programming. Students participate in various classes: health, wellness, college preparation, workforce development, restorative justice, mindfulness, and art therapy classes.
