Marist offers two rigorous finance programs rooted in the liberal arts, available as a Finance major or a concentration within the Business Administration major. Both paths focus equally on theoretical concepts and the development of critical-thinking and problem-solving skills. By combining stimulating and engaging coursework with an emphasis on ethical responsibility, we strive to mold our Finance students into the business leaders of tomorrow.

Participating in the Greystone Equity Fund and the CFA Equity Research Challenge helped me hit the ground running as a first-year analyst. I dove into financial markets, developed valuable skills in fundamental analysis, explored key Bloomberg terminal functionalities, and collaborated with a team in a true work-like setting.

Rhianna Ross

Business Administration Major, Finance Concentration

Finance electives like the Greystone Fixed Income Fund, learning to use Bloomberg and networking with Wall Street professionals in the Investment Center all gave me the confidence and preparation I needed to begin a successful career in finance.

Samantha Leenas

Business Administration Major, Finance Concentration

The finance electives —Derivatives and Risk Management, Structured Finance, and the Equity and Bond courses — have given me a leg up compared to my peers. I was one of 163 interns at JPMorgan Chase last summer, and none of them had had any of the finance coursework that I had.

A Career-Focused Curriculum

Marist Finance students start with a foundation in financial theory. Coursework incorporates hands-on application of theories and analytical skills needed to interpret financial data. Whether as a major or as a concentration, a basis in Liberal Arts combined with financial studies provides a well-rounded experience that prepares students for a successful career.

*A student can double major in Finance and Business Administration, but cannot declare a Finance concentration if they choose to double major. They can earn one of the other four concentrations only; Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Management, or International Business.

BS in Finance

Today's financial professionals have a comprehensive understanding of the various aspects of their organization, including the economic, legal, and social environments in which they work. As a well-rounded finance professional, majors will receive a solid foundation in financial markets, corporate finance, and investment analysis. They will acquire additional expertise by taking four elective courses in their areas of interest. Course electives include:

BS in Business Administration, Finance Concentration

Students pursuing a B.S. in Business Administration start with core business courses in marketing, human resource management, finance, operations management, organizational behavior, and law to provide an immensely well-rounded foundation in business. The flexibility of the major stems from the choices in concentration, which include Finance. Courses for the Finance concentration include:

Tyler Street secured a highly competitive summer analyst internship at Goldman Sachs' AYCO Consumer Wealth Management Division and will be headed to Chicago. Street points to the many experiences he's had access to both on and off campus as helping distinguish him from other candidates.
