Destination Marist: Over 2,000 Students Energize University Campus This Summer

July 7, 2025 鈥 Marist will attract more than 2,000 students to its campus this summer as the University remains an active community for learning, athletics, and career preparation. From high schoolers living on campus for pre-college courses and participating in sports camps, to current Marist students conducting research and lending their skills to local nonprofits, Marist has become a year-round destination for immersive learning, leadership development, and service.

Check out these 10 exciting ways Marist remains a hub of student activity all summer long.

  1. Summer Pre-College: Over 300 high school students from around country will get a taste for college life as they live on campus for two weeks and dive into a variety of academic programs with Marist faculty, from sports communications and fashion design to studio art and game design.
  2. Bridge to Enter Advanced Mathematics Marist is proud to host BEAM鈥檚 Summer Away Residential Camp, where middle school students dive into advanced math courses and enriching STEM activities. BEAM is a transformative program that empowers low-income students from middle and high school to explore and pursue careers in STEM.
  3. New York Stage and Film (SAF): A record number of students and alumni are directly contributing to an exciting lineup of productions for SAF鈥檚 40th anniversary season, which The New York Times recently named, 鈥.鈥 Check out the and ticket information; all performances take place on the Marist campus.
  4. Astronomy Nights: Marist will host a series of star-gazing events throughout the summer. Open to the campus community, these gatherings鈥攑artially led by students conducting research鈥攐ffer guided telescope viewing beneath the spectacular Hudson Valley sky.
  5. Newburgh Early College Scholars: In partnership with Newburgh Free Academy, high-achieving high school students are taking summer courses at Marist, experiencing the rigor of college academics while becoming familiar with campus life and expectations.
  6. Community Journalism Initiative: Current Marist journalism students are interning at Hudson Valley media outlets through the new Community Journalism Summer Internship Program. Run by the School of Communication and the Arts and supported by the Bopp Endowment, the initiative offers hands-on reporting experience. It also aims to strengthen and support local journalism.
  7. Athletic Camps: welcomes hundreds of young athletes to campus each summer for a variety of sports camps, including basketball, lacrosse, and soccer. Many current Marist student-athletes help lead these camps, offering hands-on coaching and mentorship. Registration is open until the day before each camp.   8. Faculty-Mentored Research: Students across a range of academic disciplines鈥攊ncluding the natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities鈥攁re engaging in original research alongside faculty mentors. Many of these are donor-supported projects in which students develop valuable skills in research design, data analysis, critical thinking, and academic presentation.
  9. Graduate Health Sciences Programs: Marist鈥檚 Physician Assistant program welcomes its 10th cohort this summer. Doctor of Physical Therapy students are engaged in both coursework and clinical rotations, while Athletic Training students combine classroom learning with hands-on clinical experience.
  10. Tarver Summer Internship Program: Students remain in Poughkeepsie for the summer and work with regional nonprofits in education, environmental concerns, and social services. The program blends a nonprofit internship with reflection and professional development.

大象视频 Also a Big Summer Draw for Academic and Industry Leaders

Also, this summer, 大象视频 has served as a hub for academic and industry leaders from around the world, hosting summits, trainings, and working sessions on a wide range of topics. More than a dozen groups convened on campus to explore issues including the future of AI, innovative play therapy for children, and U.S. history through the lens of Franklin D. Roosevelt鈥檚 leadership.
